A Brief History of First Baptist Church

In 1923 First Baptist Church was born at an organizational meeting held in the First Methodist Church of Port St. Joe.

As the church grew, property was purchased and in 1959 the existing sanctuary and educational space was constructed. Over the years, four mission churches were started and all have become independant Southern Baptist churches.

First Baptist Church is currently in two morning morning worship services and is making plans for facilities to provide for the tremendous growth that the church is experiencing.

The history of First Baptist Church is actually History and it continues. The church has grown from 12 members in 1923 to 882 members in 2003. The vision is still the same, as it always has been, to reach every person in the area for Jesus Christ.

There's room for all. Others will come to know Jesus as Lord and become a part of the Family of God , and a part of History at First Baptist Church.
